Learn the language before reading signals

Understand base and quote currencies, bid and ask, spread, pip, lot size, margin, leverage, liquidity, slippage, stop orders, and market sessions. If a term affects loss size, do not trade until you can explain it.

Calculate the loss before the entry

Define a stop level based on the trade idea, then size exposure so the potential loss fits a small pre-set risk budget. Leverage can cause rapid losses and, depending on the broker and jurisdiction, losses may exceed deposits.

Test a method with records, not memory

Log the setup, entry, stop, costs, result, and whether rules were followed. A short winning sample proves little; review many trades and adverse periods before considering real funds.
